Meet the exceptional artist, Paddy Cohn: Paddy comes from an extended Caribbean family with roots in St Barth’s, St. Thomas and Guadeloupe. This heritage is where her inspiration comes from. Paddy’s art has an inherent quality found in objects and materials with patina and soul. As she puts it, “I love experimenting with color and texture they are powerful tools.” After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Paddy worked as a textile designer in Manhattan. Motivated by both her professional work and her continued travels to the Caribbean, she returned to her passion, making art inspired by the islands.
Paddy’s artwork is featured in galleries and exhibitions from the Caribbean to New York City. Collected in private and corporate collections, her work is admired and loved by most. Her oversized abstract and Caribbean inspired pieces are collected and on display in some of the most historic and landmarked residential homes of the greater New York metro area. Her work has also been shown in exhibitions around the city including the past Art After Dark events, which featured some of the most exclusive artists from around the country including Shepard Fairey, Yan Zhen, Eddy Bogaert, David Paul Kay and Naku.
Miss Paddy is as much a skilled professional as a truly unforgettable and capable human being. She is a real artist of not only paint but of fashion, design, style and artistic interpretation. As time goes on Miss Cohn will continue to build her inventory of Caribbean inspired paintings and develop more designs and artwork. I for one am looking forward to seeing what Paddy does next!
