Houston Texans’ running back Arian Foster maybe done for the season with a recurring groin injury. Foster had came into the NFL in 2010 and was a very big part of the Texans success with the ground and pound game, but in recent years the once healthy running back has been out for 13 games with various injuries. This time around the injury that could keep Foster out is a recurring groin injury, last season he had dealt with the complications of having that injury, which sidelined him for a couple of games, but it is confirmed that this injury may require surgery.
If Arian needs to have surgery than it would take him out the game for 3-6 months, which might hurt his chances with being on the field. Foster finished Monday’s practice on the sideline after he pulled up with a limp during a pass play, but Texan’s head coach Bill O’Brien had felt that the injury Foster has had is not that serious and they will be monitoring him daily. Foster, 28, has missed 11 games over the past two seasons due to injuries and has dealt with groin issues in the past.
For the most part the Texans have other running backs that can somewhat fill in the absence, which includes Alfred Blue, Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes. The Texans are looking at Pierre Thomas. NFL Media’s Rand Getlin reports Thomas is on his way to visit the Texans, according to a source informed of the player’s plans. Thomas will workout for the team Wednesday. Rapoport adds the team hopes to sign Thomas permitting the workout goes well.
