MORRISON HOTEL GALLERY, D’ANGELICO GUITARS AND DREAM SOUTH BEACH PRESENT RENOWNED MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHER DANNY CLINCH AND
ROCK ICON STEVIE NICKS’ SELF-PORTRAIT COLLECTION
ART BASEL, MIAMI
Morrison Hotel Gallery, D’Angelico Guitars and Dream South Beach present a fine art music photography exhibition and sale curated by the gallery for Dream South Beach featuring the work of iconic music industry photographer Danny Clinch and rock icon Stevie Nicks — in tandem with Art Basel, North America’s foremost modern and contemporary art fair.
The exhibits open at Dream South Beach with special events on Thursday, December 4 and runs through Friday, December 5.
On December 4, Danny Clinch will sign copies of his new book, Still Moving in the Dream South Beach lobby from 6 to 7 PM. A cocktail reception hosted by D’Angelico Guitars, StillHouse Spirits, Morrison Hotel Gallery and Dream South Beach will follow on the hotel’s 1970’s-themed poolside rooftop that evening. Danny Clinch’s band Tangiers Blues Band will perform with a special appearance by Robert Randolph, a stellar pedal steel guitarist and front man of the American funk and soul band, Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
Rational Animal, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness to help at-risk animals is pleased to be invited as the charity to benefit from a raffle of gifts from Danny Clinch and Dream South Beach on this exhibition. A dedicated supporter of the charity, Alison Mosshart (The Kills) will be DJing at the reception from 9:30 to 10:30 PM.
Danny Clinch has established himself as a premier photographer of the popular music scene, photographing a wide range of artists from Johnny Cash and Tupac Shakur to Björk and Dave Matthews. His images have appeared on hundreds of album covers, as well as in publications such as Vanity Fair, Spin, Rolling Stone, and the New Yorker. The Morrison Hotel Gallery and Dream South Beach exhibit will showcase images from his recently released book Still Moving (Harry N. Abrams). This photographic treasure chronicles Clinch’s illustrious career and features more than 200 images of the most important musicians of our time, along with personal anecdotes and a written contribution by Bruce Springsteen.
Stevie Nicks’ self-portraits debuted at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York coinciding with the October release of her new album 24 Karat Gold – Songs From the Vault. A selection of this wildly successful show comes to Miami for the first time for this Dream South Beach exhibit. These never-before-seen self-portraits from Nicks’ personal Polaroid collection taken between l975 and 1987 were curated with her long-time collaborator, music impresario, and co-creator of the Eurythmics, Dave Stewart. These self-portraits show a fascinating and seldom seen facet of Nicks’ creativity – a photographic journey into the private world of the rock icon.
Dream South Beach partnered with Morrison Hotel Gallery in 2013 to create unique events that showcase the brands’ edgy and contemporary ethos. D’Angelico Guitars, based in New York City, has joined the partnership to co-sponsor music and cultural events such as Dream Live Summer Concert Series and Jamie Hince’s Echo Home photography exhibition and benefit for Rational Animal.
