NFL Quarterback Michael Vick had an eventful weekend that included a lot of activities that connected his fans and his hometown together. On Friday, Michael Vick had a silent auction and black tie affair in which the community could talk and chat with Vick. Many people had the opportunity to ask Vick certain questions throughout the night or tell him how much he had meant to the community of Newport News, Virginia.
One bystander had said, “That this event was a chance to give back to his community. He was one of the few individuals in the sporting world that made it and we are proud to see that he has made the best out of any opportunities that had swung its way to Vick.” With every fan that want his picture or his autograph, he took the pictures and signed the autographs without any complaints and just enjoyed hanging out with the people who had attended. He was very grateful with the turnout at his event.
On Saturday morning, Vick had a football camp that included NFL players DeSean Jackon, LeSean McCoy, B.W.Webb, and Roddy White. Each of these players were teaching the children that had attended the fundamentals about catching a football at the highest point, or running routes that could easily make you a star receiver. All of the children were delighted to have the opportunity to come out and meet their favorite NFL players. One of the children who was a die hard Eagles’ fan was upset that Vick was not there anymore. “I like Michael Vick! He was very fast and he always was exciting to watch. I do not understand why he does not play for us anymore.”
After a hot and sprawling afternoon, the athletes had an all star celebrity basketball game at Warwick High School,in which a lot of the community attended. Vick and his fellow friends had came out to entertain the crowd. With different dunks and just different fast break plays, the crowd ohhh and awed, enjoying the game. At the end of the game many of the people who had attended wanted autographs and pictures taking with each of the NFL players. “It was a sight to see that Vick still can put on a show and entertain the crowd. This was very good for the community, as well as the children that had gotten to see their favorite athletes up close and personal”, says a spectator.
