If you were in town for Art Basel this year you will know the hottest ticket in town was the Dior’s Men’s Fall 2020 Collection.
The 100,000-square-foot of the old Rubell museum was transformed into the house of Dior, which artist and designer Shawn Stussy reinvented in countless iterations of psychedelic Dior graffiti for the fashion fête. Largely inspired by Miami’s iconic colors, the artwork represented an ode to the city’s mind and free spirit.
Current Christian Dior’s creative mastermind and former Louis Vuitton, director Kim Jones collaborated with Stussy for this collection, who brought his signature “psychedelic surf” style to the fall 2020 collection. These styles continue the Dior principles of youth, vitality, the spirit of the new and were completed with the pre-show buzz-worthy Dior x Air Jordan 1 sneaker, the first collaboration between the two brands.
The first Dior Fashion show in the US embodied Miami’s panorama, firstly with the Dior graffiti mural building fit perfectly into the aesthetic of the neighborhood. The colorful looks and floral hats on the runway represented Miami’s vivacious style.
There were plenty of celebrities on hand to fill the front rows of the show. Only in Miami would you find such an extraordinary group including David Beckham, Kate Moss, Bella Hadid, Swizz Beatz, Pusha T and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian to name just a few.
Once the show was over the celebrities, guests mingled and danced to the sounds by DJ A-Track and a live performance by Orville Peck at the after-party. The grand finale of the night was a surprise firework show. The show may be over but the Dior show is still a buzz around town and of course, so are those sneakers.
