What do you get when you combine the chef from the number one rated restaurant in the entire world and the media authority on American Global Design? The answer is pure magic. That is what happened when award-winning Chef Daniel Humm of New York’s Eleven Madison Park and Surface magazine came together during Art Basel on Monday, December 4, 2017.

They joined forces to reimagine Eleven Madison Park for a special-edition pop-up to kick off Art Basel.  Surface welcomed A-list members of the art, design and real estate community at a private residence to celebrate and relax leading into a busy Miami Art Week.   The invite-only activation was hosted at a luxury residence, 4567 Pine Tree Drivedesigned by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan with landscape created by award-winning designer Raymond Jungles.

The daytime events, hosted by Sarah Arison, Zoe Buckman, and Sabrina Buell, offered dishes and cocktails from Eleven Madison Park including the Humm Dog, Dry-Aged Beef Burgers, and Veggie Burgers.  Whispering Angel, Prisoner Wines, and Blindfold Wines provided a selection of drinks. Chef Humm talked about the evolution of his career and his appearance on the cover of this year’s Surface Art Issue. For the perfect ambiance, Sonos and Surface created a playlist of specially curated songs to match the magical occasion.

Notable guests included: Laura Baldassari and Alberto Biagetti, Bec Brittain, Nick Brown, Simon Chaput, Alexandra Champalimaud, Rafael de Cárdenas, Casey Fremont, Alexandra Gorlin, Freja Harrell,  Misha Kahn, Karen Kice, Antonio La Sirenuse, Chad Oppenheim, Eric Scheiner, Ophir Sternberg, and Hank Willis Thomas.

In the evenings the home transformed into a private dining space for a 4-course dinner, hosted by the industry’s most prominent names in real estate, art, and design.  Hosts included Barry Brodsky, Ximenia Caminos, Arlene and Wayne Chaplin, Stephanie Goto, Bettina Korek, Kristin and Matthew Whitman Lazenby, Barry Sternlicht, along with Surface magazine editor-in-chief Spencer Bailey and CEO Marc Lotenberg.

As the official vehicle of the Surface x EMP Experience, two Porsches —Cayenne S e-Hybrid, Panamera Turbo— were utilized for VIP arrivals and departures. There was also a Porsche GT3 Cup Art Car on display at the property painted by Miami street artist Jona Cerwinske.
