World renowned fashion and lifestyle photographers David Bailey and Bruce Weber last week launched their eagerly anticipated exhibition showing a wealth of pictures they took on a Nokia Lumia 1020 capturing the heart and soul of New York’s Harlem.
The event took place in the heart of East London, childhood home of David Bailey. A host of celebrities and industry personalities were out in force to celebrate the coming together of two legends, with Bailey joining the evening’s proceedings.

The Harlem experience resonated throughout as attendees were treated to a traditional New York feast of Corn Dogs and Jerk Chicken.
It was an exhibition of firsts; the first time Bruce Weber has ever used a digital camera of any sort and the first time the pair had collaborated on a project, having been friends for many decades. Not only did attendees get the chance to see the extraordinary work of the two icons, but also to experience the unique capabilities of the 41 megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone.
David Bailey said: “I was born in East London so it is great that this exhibition will be given its global debut a stone’s throw away from where I first started making pictures. The exhibition shows how you can blow up the images we have made on the Nokia Lumia 1020 as big as a professional digital camera.”
The Nokia Lumia 1020 is the latest in cutting edge technology, with 41 megapixels, ZEISS optics, and optimized image stabilization – the Nokia Lumia 1020 establishes a new benchmark in smartphone imaging. It simplifies the controls previously reserved for professionals, and reinvents zoom to help people capture, edit and share better photos with ease.
