Residents and invited guests catch an early glimpse of the celebrated British artist’s rarest creations and sample an assortment from the best of SoFi’s culinary scene
MiamiBeach, FL – December 2018: Continuum, South Floridas premier resort-style oceanfront condominium residences, gave its residents and invited guests an early look through the lens of Miami Art Week, with a special presentation of original work from the rare collection by the acclaimed British artist, Damien Hirst. The exclusive exhibit was curated by RudolfBudja Gallery in Miami Beach, as part of an art meets culinary-themed evening of expressionism in the renowned South of Fifth luxury property on Thursday, November 29th.
The North Tower at Continuum and Rudolf Budja Gallery partnered for its annual pre-Basel showcase, attended by a who’s who of South Florida’s business leaders, residents, collectors, and international art aficionados. Nine distinct and original works by the British artist, dating back to 2009, were unveiled to celebrate the opening of Damien Hirst’s “Requiem,” exhibition at the Pinchuk Art Centre in Ukraine. These unique pieces of art will be on display in the common areas of the Continuum’s North Tower for the next two months.
“We are delighted to welcome back our residents and guests to their warm winter home, with our own special preview to commemorate the beginning of this year’s Miami Art Week,” says Rishi Idnani, Managing Director of Continuum. “This private collection by Rudolf Budja Gallery offers an extraordinary look into the mind of one of today’s most accomplished artists. We like to surprise our residents and invited guests for our annual pre-Basel soiree with a unique and unusual experience within our North Tower lobby—a collection that no other artistic community is able to offer. This contemporary installation is truly our most eclectic to-date.”
In addition to the visual extravagance adorning the walls of the North Tower lobby, attendees were also treated to a culinary extravaganza catered by a number of partnering brands and restaurants, native to the South of Fifth neighborhood, including Lolo’s, Upland, Azabu, Planta and Prime One Twelve—each setting up their own food station to offer an array of creative bites. Leclante patisserie produced a most colorful offering of sweet treats and savory delights, in anticipation of the festive season ahead. This year’s event was in association with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, to which donations by Continuumresidents were generously made throughout November. Continuum’s chief concierge, Jacqueline Gonzalez, was instrumental in bringing together the neighborhood restaurants for their sample servings throughout the evening, and for managing the charitable donations extended by residents to Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.
