Glamour, glitter and great big viewing screens set the scene for the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) annual Oscar Awards party at the historic Savor Theatre. Hundreds of film aficionados turned out dressed in high style for the much-anticipated annual fundraiser, which combined live musical entertainment, a lavish spread of tempting hors d’oeuvres, open bar, great conversation and of course viewing of the Oscar Awards proceedings.
The Savor Cinema’s historic trappings transported guests back to the Golden Age of Hollywood as they watched from velvet seats on a 30-foot screen as celebrities stepped up to accept their awards . Those who preferred to savor the cool evening breezes could view the ceremonies outside on a giant screen, while others took a break from the Hollywood proceedings to dance, dine, visit with old and new friends and enjoy the party atmosphere. Musical entertainment included a strolling violinist, Steven Avi Jazz from the Martin Hand Quartet and a Bossa Nova band.
As always, party-goers created a fashion show of their own with a variety of show-stopping elegant gowns and colorful, stylish jackets and ties that riveled some of the Hollywood stars’ best. As they sipped on bubbly, specialty cocktails, tempting culinary offerings – as well as authentic movie theatre popcorn – they helped raise vital funds to help celebrate cinematic creativity and bring new and innovative films onto the big screen as part of the FLIFF.
Guests also can enjoy another great party this May as the FLFF celebrates Derby Day in style with another fabulous event. Tickets are $100 for FLIFF members and $125 general admission. All proceeds benefit the Fort Lauderdale International Film festival, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit cultural organization. For more information, click here.
