Golden State Survives A Thrilling Game One Victory (100-108)

The Golden State Warriors survives a heated LeBron James and the defensive Cleveland Cavaliers in overtime. Before regulation had ended, there was a moment that James or Iman Shumpert could have ended the game on a miracle heave, but could not get a  good look from the field. With a desperate, but determined team , Golden State lead a 10-2 run to get a game one finals victory.

With a thrilling victory over the Cavs, individuals wanted to know what had made Golden State so impressive being down fourteen and coming out out the second half making shots and executing their offensive so well. The 14-point deficit in the first half, they said, had everything to do with the nerves they’d spent the past eight days discussing, but that is a lesson, Andrew Bogut said.”

“Finals, nerves, pressure, I don’t know what it was (early on),” he said. “But once we kind of took a deep breath and relaxed, things turned the around. The distractions leading into this game were just astronomical. Media, ticket requests, friends and family, new cousins, new aunties, new uncles. You’ve got to kind of stay in your bubble and your routine that got you here. I think now that this game is over, we know what to expect and in the next one we’ll be OK.”

“We were able to scrap tonight,” Stephen Curry said courtside after the Warriors outscored the Cavaliers in shooting from the field by 44.3 per cent to 41.5 with five of their players getting into double digits.”The three-pointer in the corner [by Barnes] opened the game up and they scored just two points in overtime, that’s huge.”

Outside of LeBron having a magnificent all around game, he  did not have a supporting cast. J.R. Smith was a non factor and Kyrie Irving tweaked his knee in the fourth quarter and was not effective late in the game. The Cavs front office does not know how serious the injury is just yet, but Irving wasn’t the same. “This one felt a little different,” Irving said afterward (via Brandon Schlager of Sporting News). “I just felt something a little different in my knee. This time it was all my weight falling down on it. I don’t know exactly what had happened.”

The Cavs had trouble with scoring points in overtime causing James to take difficult shot selections and forced to pass the ball to his teammates, who could not connect with the bottom of the basket.

Game 2 will be held Sunday!
