Kurt Busch dominates Richmond International in dominate fashion. Kurt has had an up and down year with certain things in his personal life, but when he is on the track he just knows how to win. After a rocky start with the post postponing the race due to the rain, the drivers were set for a nice day of racing.
Denny Hamlin, who was in the lead for 248 laps had lost the lead due to green flag pit stops and that was when Busch had took the lead and never looked back. “It’s an unbelievable feeling when you pull deep from within and you go through troubles and you know, when you’re accused of something and things go sideways, your personal life doesn’t need to affect your business life,” said Busch.”
“Standing on the truth the whole time that gave me the feeling of when I do get back to the car it’s going to be easy to focus. I think I’ve shown that in tough times I can remain focus on what is at stake,” Busch said. It is great to have a victory.”
With the win, Busch is now standing in the light of the chase.
Even though this was an outstanding win for Kurt and his team there has been a slight bit of pressure that he will have to face with upcoming races. “Co-owner Gene Haasx will joke around and say, ‘All right, that’s one win. Where is more?’ We want to win more. We want to win more often. We want to be ready for anything that comes our way on making pit calls, two tires, four tires, restarts, inside, outside,” Busch said. “We want to be that universal team that’s ready for any circumstance or any situation, and that way we can advance through the Chase and be a competitive team for the championship says Busch.”
This was his first win of the season and with the win this could build up his confidence as well as his team.
