Tonight is the night where dreams start to fade and become some of the players reality. The draft is huge for the players and the teams that will have to make some dicey moves to improve there organizations within the draft. So lets start off with the 1st team that will get the first pick.
The Minnesota Timberwolves hold the No. 1 pick and have been looking closely with Kentucky’s Karl Anthony Towns, which will help Minnesota. This season they were a whooping 16-66 and did not live up to expectations within the organization. Bringing Towns into the organization will fill up seats, as well as bring an inside presence which the Timberwolves desperately needs. Towns has the ability to be a great center. He can shoot over defenders because of his height, as well can shoot at a high percentage in the post. On the defensive side he has quick feet and had 2.3 blocks a game last season, but he has to stay out of foul trouble. Foul trouble had limited him deep in the tournament last season. If he could stray away from the foul trouble affects that he has had in the past he would be in the running for Rookie of the Year.
The Los Angeles Lakers get the second pick in the draft. The Lakers need to find some type of player that can make the players around them better. From what “sources” are saying, the Lakers could go after Jahlil Okafor. Okafor is a big man that has the potential to have a strong year. He his post game is very skilled and he could get offensive rebounds like it’s nothing, but his achilles heel is his free throw shooting. Last season with Duke he had shoot under fifty two percent. If he goes to the Lakers, he could give the Lakers another big man that can pass in double teams, have great vision with seeing the court, and make a big impact within the organization.
D’ANGELO RUSSELL, KRISTAPS PORZINGIS, and JUSTISE WINSLOW could go into the top five with teams such as the Knicks, Magic, and the 76ers that are looking for quality players that could spark the organization and improve their respective teams. This years’ draft class is filled with rising stars and a lot of big men that are bringing the “Big Man” in style is back aspect.
