Spotlight on: Oil Painter and Fashion Stylist, Miguel Salinas

Meet the amazingly talented Miguel Salinas of Miami: fashion stylist and classically trained oil painter. Growing up in Miami, he was exposed to good fashion his whole life and working in fashion has taken his eye for style and art to a whole new level. On a Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Salinas agrees to sit down with me at a cafe in Brickell for an exclusive interview to give us a taste of his style and its modern methodology. He is an innovator of a new aesthetic in fashion and art, as I like to title him. Although Miguel was born and raised in Miami, it is hard to place where he’s from due to his worldly attitude and constant world travels. He went to college in London and was heavily influenced by the culture and fashion. He’s also constantly traveling and working around the country for Christian Dior for the past few years, which has greatly impacted the way he acts, thinks and lives. Miguel’s eye for art is also phenomenal: him and I actually share our favorite artist. We commonly believe that he best painter of all time: the incredible oil painter, Gustav Klimt. This is due to his eye for detail and over the top embellishments and luxury in his paintings. I couldn’t help but think that this was not a coincidence: Miguel’s eye for art is just as polished as his eye for fashion. It’s about the details, the accessories, and all the last finishing touches. The contemporary art world is vibrant and booming like never before and it’s a twenty-first century phenomenon, a global industry in its own right. Contemporary artists seek the power to astonish, challenge and surprise: Miguel’s paintings and fashion looks achieve all of these things. He showcases artwork and style that the public may not ordinarily have access to outside of a large urban environment within a welcoming, creative, and inspirational platform. 

 

Now let me tell you about the real Miguel Salinas: he is one of the most charismatic and interesting people I have ever met as well as being one of the most well dressed. He is a burst of energy and a booster of confidence and grace: he constantly is pointing out fashion tips and tricks whenever he can and I must say that the man knows fashion like the back of his hand: from the way the fabric drapes on your body or how your belt is angled to the way your posture is: Miguel will be sure to point out the final touches to any outfit or just the way one would carry themselves with grace. Miguel is as much a skilled professional as a truly unforgettable and capable human being. He is an artist of fashion, design and style. Consider me inspired.
