The Seattle Seahawks had displayed what the world wanted to see in Super bowl 48 and that was a dominating defense. Seattle’s fans wanted to see if their team could isolate Broncos QB Peyton Manning and his high power offense. The Broncos were held to 8 points and struggled to convert first downs. Manning had 280 yards, 2 interceptions, and 1 td, but was hassled by a tenacious defense every play.
Seattle had accomplished something that hasn’t been done in their city for a very long time; define the odds and win a championship. This is Seattle’s first Championship that they have earned.
We have been relentless all season,” quarterback Russell Wilson said. “Having that mentality of having a championship day every day. At the end of the day, you want to play your best football and that is what we did today.” This is an amazing team. Took us four years to get to this point, but they never have taken a step sideways,” coach Pete Carroll said. “These guys would not take anything but winning this ballgame.”
Players from the offensive side and the “Legion of Boom” expressed their gratitude towards their 12th man. The team could not wait to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Seattle and celebrate with their 12th man.
Seahawks fans were a constant presence in Manhattan all week, with their “Sea! Hawks!” chants at just about every establishment near Times Square. For those who made the trip, seeing their team produce one of the all-time dominant Super Bowl performances and finally win a championship had to be worth every penny.
The 12th man has caused a lot of havoc for teams when the Seahawks played in their home land; most teams can not hear plays so they have to create signs to help them understand the plays. The 12th man has urged Seattle through adversity and tough times when Russell Wilson had a bad game or when they needed a big play. The fans have a spirit that is hard to explain.
A simply message was given to a motivated team at the start of the season,” Why not us.” The message was given by Russell’s Wilson father and Russell has carried that message within himself and his team. Seattle has been the underdog for many years and now they define the term heart. Heart is something that is carried within yourself, it drives you to be successful and that is one of the factors that gave the team hope.
Seattle has answered many question and concerns about the youth of their QB, could they outplay an offensive team, and what motivates them. Their motivation was given by their fans who stuck by them thick and thin.
