To commemorate this anniversary, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit hosted a grand event starting in New York on May 16th, then continuing at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Florida from May 17th to May 19th. The venue was transformed into a model’s paradise for the event, known as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Island. This extravaganza was filled with beauty, empowerment, and celebration, drawing models, celebrities, and enthusiasts to this dynamic gathering.
Chrissy Teigen returns for her second cover appearance, having first graced the pages of the magazine in 2010 and the cover in 2014. Kate Upton, a celebrated figure in SI Swimsuit history, earns her fourth cover, having previously appeared in 2012, 2013, and 2017. Hunter McGrady makes her cover debut, representing body positivity and inclusivity, themes she has ardently supported since joining the magazine in 2016. Gayle King, a new and inspiring addition, highlights the recognition of women of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds.
The weekend kicked off on Friday night with the exclusive “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit: Through the Decades” VIP Party at the Boras Pool within Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. This chic cocktail event featured installations showcasing images of the issue’s models, setting a glamorous and lively atmosphere for the guests.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Hard Rock Hotel Pool was turned into Swimsuit Island, offering a variety of activities, giveaways, and glam moments. The notable models in attendance included Christie Brinkley, Kate Upton, Hunter McGrady, Nicole Williams English, Brooks Nader, Kamie Crawford, Katie Austin, Christen Harper, and rookie Xandra Pohl. Reality TV stars like Hannah Ann Sluss and Daisy Kent from Bachelor Nation, as well as Kiki Barth from Real Housewives of Miami.
The highlight was a captivating red carpet event on Saturday night, with a surprise appearance by Tyra Banks.
