by Kevin Campbell

Eyes were glued to the television as viewers and die-hard music fans watched their favorite artists grace the Red Carpet with their presence. The 56th Grammy Awards, the most watched televised music awards ceremony, took place on January 26th, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Known for its pre-grammy gala, music stars from around the world dressed to the nines and paraded down the Red Carpet in diaphanous gowns and classic tuxedos.

Fashion journalist Kevin Campbell shares his perspective of the Red Carpet attendees in his favorite segment of Fashion Files called Aesthetic Analysis. Here’s a FULL ANALYSIS of the Top 10 Best Dressed (Woman) attendees of the Grammy Awards 2014 RED CARPET EDITION.

TaylorSwiftNO. 1: Taylor Swift

The “I Knew You Were Trouble” songstress Taylor Swift was indeed trouble to other A-List celebs when she walked onto the Red Carpet! Swift wore a short-sleeve shimmery metallic Gucci gown with a sheer neckline. Classy and slightly edgy, Taylor paired this look with silver eye shadow, pink lips, and curly hair pulled into a ponytail. The dress was modest yet mesmerizing. With glistening fibers, embroidered sleeves and an empire waist, the 24-year old “All Too Well” singer resembled a trophy herself!

Grammy appropriate? Very. Show stopper? Not quite, although her gown was classy in every sense of the word. The dress was nothing unseen before and is predictable for Taylor, but she wore it flawlessly and for that, on a scale of 1-10, she gets an 8.5!

RitaOraNO. 2: Rita Ora

Fashion innovators like Rihanna and Lady Gaga may not have shown up, but Rita Ora gladly took their spot with her metallic green Lanvin dress. Wearing a short dress to a fairly formal event like the Grammys is always a little risqué, but Rita Ora gave it a whole new meaning. Both bold and stunning, she paired the dress with Jimmy Choo’s, a nude lip, and blonde curled hair.

Grammy appropriate? She made it work! Show stopper? Of course! On a scale from 1-10, she gets an 8.5!

TamarBraxtonNO. 3: Tamar Braxton

The Braxton diva Tamar has had a wave of success recently, and now she can add one of the best dressed for the Grammy Awards 2014 to her list! Tamar wore a red Michael Castello gown, flattering her figure and complimenting the ombre shortcut she wore so elegantly. With a dab of blush and pink lips, the Braxton brat sported the natural look and launched herself into the top 5 best dressed of the evening!

Grammy appropriate? Definitely! Show stopper? Elegant to say the least. On a scale from 1-10, she gets an 8.5!

ParisHiltonNO. 4: Paris Hilton

White paired with sheer was all the rave on the Red Carpet this year and Paris Hilton was the epitome of chic and sexy! Looking at her on Grammy night, you could tell that she has come a long way from the girl that was in those explicit videos that you’d typically see on somewhere like https://www.hdpornvideo.xxx/?hl=es all those years ago. She didn’t have to win a Grammy at the Grammys because her award was Best Dress! Strutting down the Red Carpet in her House of Miliani gown, Paris rocked the look with an up-do and very light makeup with a natural soft pink lip. Elegant and embellished from the front with sensually revealing mesh panels on the back, she was the talk of the night only topped by Queen Bee herself!

Grammy appropriate? It will suffice. Show stopper? More like head-turner! On a scale of 1-10, Paris gets a 7.5!

ChrissyTeigen

NO. 5: Chrissy Teigen

Metallic fabric was no stranger to the Red Carpet this year around and Chrissy Teigen wore her shimmery dress effortlessly! With a strapless v-neckline and empire waist, her Johanna Johnson sequin gown paired harmoniously with her ombre hair and soft pink lips. With a strapless line like this looking so effortless and classy, we can only assume Teigen was modeling a great strapless bra or maybe even some boob tape (perhaps from https://www.boobhold.com) to complete the look.

Grammy appropriate? Yes. Show stopper? Yes. On a scale from 1-10, she gets an 8!

Although red is not a spring 2014 color according to Pantone, the go-to color authority, Colbie Calliat wore it like it was! The 28 year old singer stunned onlookers in her regal red Ezra Santos gown coupled with Claude Morady 1930s vintage diamonds, Jimmy Choo shoes, and an ITA Collection clutch. With the sensual design in the front essentially splitting her cleavage diagonally, she exuded a sensual, sexy aura. The back of the gown sports an open back and fabric handing from the nape of her neck. The top portion of her dress is made of what appears to be red feathers, later transitioning into a smooth red material, adding to the gown layers of aesthetic sophistication. With her highlight hair in a ponytail and red lipstick, she nailed this look giving elegance, class, and sexiness at the same time! Grammy appropriate? Very. Show stopper? Yes! On a scale from 1-10, she gets an 8.5!

CiaraNO. 7: Ciara

The Red Carpet is no stranger to celebrities showcasing their baby bumps, and Ciara did it the right way! Dress in a shimmery bronze and beige Emillio Pucci gown, she showed off her curves in all the right places! The skin-tight dress featured a sequin decorative pattern, a mermaid tail and a deep, revealing neckline held together by three pieces of strings. Sporting a mid-length ombre, nude lip, and a big rock on her finger, Ciara’s dress wasn’t the only thing glowing on the Red Carpet.

Although she looked a little washed out due to the repeated theme (gold undertones, gold dress, nude lip), she managed to pull off the look effortlessly!

Grammy appropriate? Yes! Show stopper? Isn’t Ciara always a show stopper? On a scale from 1-10, she gets an 8!

BeyonceNO. 8: Beyoncé

The “Drunk In Love” singer was sober and in her right mind on the Red Carpet as she fulfilled the vision Michael Castello had for his gown. Beyoncé Knowles wore a sheer nude and white floral lace dress that covered most of her body, including her footwear. All was not lost as the sheer dress was more revealing that meets the eye, despite its ankle length. The dress hugged her upper torso but loosened down the length of the dress (mid-thigh), similar to a typical mermaid dress. It complimented her ‘figure 8′ size 2 body and featured a white floral lace design on top of the nude sheer fabric, giving the illusion that certain parts of the dress were “missing”.

With her modest makeup, dark red lips, and ombre curly shortcut, she gave a pop of color that complimented the dress. Her look was both sexy and elegant although darker hair with a little more length would’ve contrasted nicely with the white dress.

The dress, designed by Michael Costello, was entirely handmade. The hemline was made of horsehair wire and was thrown together on a sample mannequin in a day. The Project Runway alum stated “the feeling of flowers and leaves falling from a winter wonderland onto the nude-illusion fabric” is what served as his inspiration. Despite other worthy contenders like Elie Saab, Valentino, and Donatella Versace, Costello’s design prevailed.

Grammy appropriate? I think she passed. Show stopper? Not quite, but the “drunk in love” singer sure did give us all something to talk about on stage! On a scale of 1-10, she gets a 7.5!

AmberRoseNO. 9: Amber Rose

After her pregnancy, Amber debuted her post-baby body and she looked great! Dressed in a two-toned golden gown, she displayed class and ass as the sensual dress hugged her body in all of the right places. Considering her history as a stripper and how she is comfortable with showing her body in public (which has led to her being popular in celebrity porn), there is little surprise that she went for a plunging neckline, allowing the right amount of cleavage to entice onlookers. But with shimmery sequin flowing down the length of her gown, she covered up her tattooed arms, adding a touch of elegance to the overall look. Amber paired her signature blonde super shortcut with a neutral pink lip.

Grammy appropriate? Yes. Show stopper? Yes. On a scale of 1-10, Amber scores a 7.5!

NatashaBedingfield

NO. 10: Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha Bedingfield shows off her Spring Grammys gown in an effort to modestly awe viewers! Very classy and conservative, Bedingfield wore a celosia orange Christian Siriano dress, an Emm Kuo clutch, and Samantha Wills jewelry. Although the Grammys is a formal event, the singer showed that class, modesty, and a pop of color is always a WIN. Definitely in fashion for the season, she was one of the few who decide to stay away from the metallic and neutral tones and showcase a dress a little more lively. With a head full of blonde straight hair, a bang, pink lips, and gold arm candy, she brought the Red Carpet to life in a respectable way!

Grammy appropriate? Yes. Show stopper? More like eye-catcher! On a scale of 1-10, Natasha gets an 8!
