New York became the epicenter of luxury fashion’s Cruise 2027 season as Louis Vuitton and Gucci delivered two radically different but equally cinematic presentations across Manhattan. From the gilded intimacy of The Frick Collection to the electric spectacle of Times Square, both maisons transformed New York into a living runway.
For Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière explored the tension between uptown refinement and downtown rebellion through the lens of legendary pop artist Keith Haring. Gucci, under Demna’s direction, staged a full-scale cultural takeover in Times Square, amplifying the chaos, glamour, and immediacy of New York through a show that blurred the line between fashion spectacle and public performance.
Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027: Keith Haring at The Frick
According to the official Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 presentation, the collection was unveiled in New York City on May 20, 2026, under the artistic direction of Nicolas Ghesquière.
The house described the collection as a dialogue between New York’s uptown sophistication and downtown creative energy. A sartorial exchange between Paris and New York City reveals a contemporary collection by Nicolas Ghesquière — steeped in cultural influence and crafted with an American attitude. That contrast became the conceptual foundation of the show staged inside The Frick Collection, one of Manhattan’s most revered cultural institutions.

Ghesquière collaborated with the Keith Haring Foundation after discovering a 1930s Louis Vuitton suitcase that Haring had tagged in 1984, a piece later acquired by the maison for its archives. The artist’s unmistakable visual language appeared throughout the collection in graphic tops, embellished leather pieces, and statement bags inspired by New York’s downtown art scene.

The collection fused athletic Americana with Parisian tailoring. Denim, boxing shorts, sculptural sneakers, zebra prints, and vivid taxi-cab yellows referenced the energy of Manhattan streets, while the setting itself evoked old-world elegance.

Gucci Cruise 2027: Times Square Becomes the Runway
For Cruise 2027, Gucci transformed Times Square into a massive open-air runway under the direction of Demna. Giant digital billboards streamed the show live across Midtown Manhattan, turning one of the world’s busiest intersections into a luxury fashion stage.
In Gucci’s official statement, Demna described the presentation as a “homecoming” for the house, referencing New York as the site of Gucci’s first store outside Italy, opened on Fifth Avenue in 1953. He added that he wanted to place Gucci “at the center of this metropolis.”

The Cruise 2027 collection, referred to as “GucciCore,” merged oversized tailoring, dark glamour, streetwear proportions, and exaggerated silhouettes inspired by the visual collisions of New York City itself.
