There is a wonderful hidden gem along the Cote d’Azur positioned conveniently between Monaco and Nice called Les Terrasses d’Eze. It is an ideal oasis to stopover for a few nights or a spa day. It is a great place to relax, unwind, unplug, and recuperate, especially after marquis events like the Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival or endless sightseeing.

It sits high above the Mediterranean Sea offering spectacular panoramic views from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap d’Antibes. The 87-room hotel was cleverly designed like a tiered layer-cake so that each room has a balconied sea view. The medieval village of Eze is just a stone’s throw away.

Try for impeccable timing with the full moon over the Med.  Otherwise, the daily sunset is a stunner too.

The recommended routine at this ‘recovery’ location is to wake at sunrise, breathe in the fresh sea air, enjoy the buffet breakfast, meander to the infinity pool for laps or lounging, followed by the self-service spa, then refresh and dine alfresco-style with fine French wines while watching the sunset. On day two, try venturing from this little oasis to nearby Eze to meander through the narrow passages shopping and taking selfies around each turn.  Many local artisans sell their wares here.  Art galleries and ateliers are almost everywhere.  Also, try to snag a lunch reservation, at Michelin starred Chevre d’Or in Eze village.  Eat, sleep, repeat…for your time at Les Terrasses d’Eze.

The focus here is on spa and relaxation. The hotel has cleverly created a two-hour personal journey for a deeper dive into relaxation and revitalization. They have a four-step course in various heat experience rooms including a Himalayan salt room. Next is the dark floating room where Epsom salt water at 35 degrees Celsius enables the body to float. This allows the brain to be free of all external stimulations for reaching a deep level of relaxation and meditation. The absence of gravity and sensory deprivation create an environment for rapid recovery of both physical and emotional trauma. Ahhh, to be void of stress and trauma, what a wonder. An indoor hydromassage pool with waterfalls and jacuzzi further extends relaxation. Treatment rooms provide an opportunity for more pampering with a whole range of facial and body treatment rituals. Plus, there is a fitness facility for a good workout.

Outdoor activities include strolling around the botanical gardens, sunrise yoga, French petanque and tennis.  And of course, the outdoor infinity pool is perfect for gazing endlessly at the Mediterranean Sea watching mega yachts and sailboats parade by.

Dining at Le Tillac Terrace alfresco style serves up organic Mediterranean cuisine and fine wines while the poolside Bio Bar provides lunchtime snacks. The Lounge Bar is open daily for an aperitivo or cocktail anytime.

Say your strongest “ommmmmm’ and then be ready to head home.
