Get for authentic Italian.
Sure, you can get a life-changing slice of pizza on just about every corner from one of hundreds of New York Pizzerias all over the city. But for a special dinner, one of Olivia’s favorites is Carbone, a cozy Italian spot downtown that cooks the best sea urchin and linguine vongole you will ever try. Be a little adventurous, and it will not disappoint.
Jump on board a food craze.
Right now it seems like the entire city is on an avocado-toast kick. Unlike the cronut, you can totally make this at home (pending perfectly ripe avocados), but the local toast tastemakers really know what they’re doing. Case in point: Olivia is into Café Gitane’s spicy, salty and sweet variation. Instagram pics are encouraged.
Break a sweat.
The urban jungle is seriously into fitness, but here a workout can feel more like a night in the club (and sometimes, it’s just as hard to score a spot). At the top of Olivia’s list is 2Fly’s dance fitness class, led by her fiancé’s sister Kristin Sudeikis. Throw in the ‘90s dance tracks, and we’re sold.
Cheer on the hometown team.
Olivia is a fan of the Nets, and you can’t beat the energy at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn — no matter what team you support. Watching some of NYC’s finest athletes kill it on the court (and maybe even spotting a celeb or two) is an experience that even the toughest New Yorker can get behind.
