Chicago Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will undergo surgery in a few days. This is not the first time Rose has been bothered by injuries
Rose has been battling injuries for the past three seasons and to get this far with only a month and some change left in the season has to be defeating for Bulls’ fans as well as Rose.
This year Rose was determined to bounce back from the injuries he had in the past, this season he had made an impact with his team averaging 18.4 points with 5 assist in 46 games.
This has to be a great lost for the Bulls who has won 6 out of 7 games and was on the mark of being the favorite to win the finals.
Since Rose is out indefinitely this season, Bulls backup point guard Aaron Brooks has to play well in order for the Bulls to make it deep playoff run. Brooks has been a great pickup for the Bulls this season when he has gotten his opportunities, but now the push for the finals is on the shoulders of Brooks and his team.
Rose has been getting uplifting encouragement from players around the league. They are praying that Rose will battle back mentally and physically for next season.
“It’s so tough for a guy like that who plays so hard and has to go through it again and again and again “says Russell Westbrook. (espn.com)
“I feel so bad for DRose,” former Bull Jamal Crawford tweeted. “One of the most genuine superstars out there.”
Rose has a lot of support with him recovering, but how far will this injury take him. He was determined to make a comeback this season, but has been let down by this obstacle.
Rose has overcame so many adversities in his life and proved a lot of critics wrong. Time will tell if he will come back as the unique, unorthodox, and simply fast point guard that we are accustom of seeing.
