In this week alone the NBA have made some news with headliners that will make a huge impact for different teams around the league. The latest signing that has caused quite a stir is the Orlando Magic signing C.J. Watson to a three year $15 million contract. For the last two years with the Indiana Pacers, Watson has averaged 10 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. Watson has to bring it this season in order to make the Magic a playoff contender. Last season the Magic was 25-57 and needs help. Watson could provide them with the explosiveness he has shown in his years with the Chicago Bulls. He can stretch out the defense and can create his own shoot, so this was a great pick up for the struggling magic.
De’Andre Jordan is now a Dallas Mavericks; Jordan felt like he could be a star at another team, despite the Clippers being a playoff contender. The Mavericks offered Jordan a four year $80 million contract, which he took over the Clippers offering him a five year $109 million max contract. Jordan looks to put the Clippers behind him and make the Mavericks a playoff contender. Last season the Mavericks were a 50-32 team, but they needed one more piece. Jordan is very athletic and has a way of making you pay viciously with his outstanding rebounding and his superman dunks. This could give Dallas a new offensive strategy with more of the pick and roll or pick in pop. This could create a lot more chances with getting all the players involve when opponents double team Jordan.
New York Knicks have signed Arron Afflalo to a two year $16 million deal and Robin Lopez for a four year $54 Million contract.
Washington Wizards signed Gary Neal for a year deal worth $2.1 million.
The Spurs and Suns have “solidified” themselves as the front runners for LaMarcus Aldridge, reports Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. He has yet to make a decision, but reports are indicating that he is leaning towards the Spurs.
