Madonna professes love to ex-husband at HELP HAITI HOME gala

Madonna didn’t hold back on expressing her love for ex-husband Sean Penn at the 5th annual Sean Penn & Friends HELP HAITI HOME Gala.

She shared her love for her ex-husband during her speech: “I want to say, Sean, I love you, from the moment that I laid eyes on you,” Madonna said, according to Variety. “I just wish you’d stop smoking cigarettes.”

Madonna and Sean Penn split four years after their wedding, which was held back in 1985.  However, at this gala, they arrived hand in hand.  Sean Penn didn’t say much during the event because it had been revealed just hours before that he had conducted a secret interview with the legendary Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman Loera (“El Chapo”) for a piece in Rolling Stone.

She also performed a French song on a ukulele, which was later sold in the auction for $300,000.  A performance by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers served as the finale of the night.  The star-studded event attracted other big names such as Justin Bieber, Pamela Anderson, Lana Del Rey, Mark Ruffalo, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The event, which was held at the Montage Hotel on January 9, 2016, in Beverly Hills, California, benefited the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.  The mission of this organization is to create programs within the facets of camp and relocations management, engineering and construction, medical and community development.  They have an overall vision of improving quality of life for people in Haiti and transforming communities to make them more resourceful and safer.  For more information go to http://jphro.org/
