Inspired by the filmmaker’s own thrilling escapades in the stunning Florida Keys, MUD KEY tells the hilarious story of Liz and Jodi Cohn–Jimenez, a spirited left-leaning lesbian couple and novice boaters. Accompanied by their feisty terrier, Pepe, they embark on a journey to the idyllic Mud Key. However, their excitement quickly turns to chaos when they inadvertently beach their boat, only to encounter a local couple, DJ and Amber Flint, whose contrasting right-wing views set the stage for a comedic showdown. As pleasantries dissolve into tension, the film explores the absurdities of today’s political climate in a way that is both laugh-out-loud funny and surprisingly poignant. Stuck until the tide comes in, both couples must navigate their differences in this captivating tale of conflict and camaraderie.
