BUYING BOATS & CONTEMPORARY ART COINCIDED AGAIN IN MIAMI FOR PRESIDENTS WEEKEND

Victorious by AK Yachts

The Miami International Boat Show wrapped up a five-day event in Miami and Miami Beach across six locations drawing visitors from around the world.  There was over $417 million in boat inventory ranging from sleek speedboats to magnificent superyachts.

Art Wynwood teamed up with similar timing and a tent next to the in-water boat show making it convenient for boat shoppers to become art buyers and vice versa.  This was the 11th edition of Art Wynwood presented by Art Miami with over 50 galleries from around the world presenting artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Both shows kicked off on Valentine’s Day!  Cotes de Femme wine company was on-hand at the boat show with plenty of bottles serving up tastings for the ladies while Art Wynwood handed out bags of chocolate kisses to guests as they entered spreading the love to all.

This year Art Wynwood honored artist Peter Tunney with the prestigious Art Wynwood Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award.  Tunney, a true creative force, has shared positive messages in unconventional ways for over 30 years.  He works across various mediums, including paint, collage, wood, photography, found objects, and discarded materials.  Tunney has bases in Tribeca, NYC as well as at the Wynwood Walls in Miami.

The boat show, officially called The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show, draws visitors from 35 countries worldwide to South Florida, generating an estimated $1.34 billion for the state of Florida annually.  It is a massive economic injector for the Miami tourism and hospitality industry.

This year the Progressive Boat Show Experience at Pride Park was a fan-favorite with the Nautical Ventures AqaZone.  Here they also had the Pride Park Pickleball Court.

But let’s get to the main attraction, the boats, yachts, and superyachts. Some standouts included German carbon fiber-built yachts using F1 car technology, SAY Carbon Yachts and a worldwide Magellano 30M, Five Seasons debut from Azimut and of course the longest, biggest boats in the SuperYacht section of the show with Victorious and Marguerite.

SAY CARBON YACHTS

This German builder debuted their super sexy, super-fast, lightweight, fuel-efficient day yachts in Miami.  It’s like driving a supercar on the water, handcrafted in Germany, made 100% of carbon fiber. There are three models SAY 29, 42 and 52.

AZIMUT

The Azimut/Benetti Group offers a wide range of motor yachts from 42 to 125 feet organized in seven series: Verve, Atlantis, Magellano, Fly, Grande and Seadeck.

Magellano 30M

Fifth Season, Magellano 30M was showcased as a world premiere at the Miami Boat Show.  It is a true artistic collaboration between two talented designers, the Italian Vincenzo De Cotiis designing interiors with irregular geometries and Ken Freivokh, whose timeless, elegant vision sculpted the exterior lines. It is a crossover coupe.  Furnishings were designed half height so as not to steal the show from the sea and sky and the owner’s suite has floor-to-ceiling windows. Artistic fiberglass was used to create furnishing as a blend of art and architecture.

New Fly 72

Architect/designer Fabio Fantolino made his debut in the nautical world with Azimut’s New Fly 72 shown at the Miami show.  His transversal design is evident with the choice of materials and shapes: wood was combined with precious materials like bronze and glossy lacquers. The exterior by Alberto Mancini kept in touch with the sporty DNA of Azimut yachts with clean lines and sculptural tension.

AK YACHTS

When Turkish entrepreneur, Vural Ak could not find a shipyard to build the yacht he wanted, he decided to establish his own, thus AK Yachts came into being.  Victorious was his inaugural undertaking as a shipbuilder.

Victorious

This multi-award winning 279-foot yacht was a site to see at the Miami SuperYacht show, with many attendees oohing and ahhing and taking instagrammable photos and videos.  There is even a unique fractional ownership option being offered by Superyacht Holdings opening the buyer pool to a broader base.  Rather than the buyer coughing up $135 million, with the fractional purchase, “only” $3 million and $350k annual dues covering all food and beverage and gratuities is needed.

LURSSEN

The superyacht builder of all superyacht builders, German shipyard, Lurssen always has the showoffs at the shows.  The Miami Boat Show was no exception with Marguerite on display.

Marguerite

This 201-foot superyacht has a two-story owner’s suite, a professional dive center amongst many more amazing amenities and can cruise for 30 days straight.
