It has always seemed to this observer that Alberto Giacometti worked in deliberate spitfres of creative action. Here in the canvas,.”Escaping the Pandemic” Fernando Pomalaza applied masses of bulbous lugubrious black paint creating concentrated mandala like wheels of incarnation.
Repousse , wrought iron ciircles of muscular black bulging steel; spindles of paint emerging into sculptural forms as if cauldron founts of molten metal giving birth to figures writhing in limbo in between states of afterlife dispensation.
Then, just beyond all this lays an epic mystery, It is here that Fernando Pomalaza, through this architecture of overlay, consructs for us a grand visage.
For behind these gates is a dream to be discovered, an abstract apparition and the question to the viewer remains how will one journey there.
