On (1/31) Lil Wayne headlined at the Delano on South Beach last Friday, January 31st, for an event presented by Tidal. His event was marred by a torrential downpour, but the artist prevailed and managed to finish a 40-minute set. The fans did not seem to mind the rain either and stuck with Wayne the entire set and sang his songs word for word. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was enthusiastic yet intimate.

The artist has just released his newest and 13th album, Funeral, but strangely enough, he did not perform any of the songs from it. He let the crowd know he was going to “take it back” and stuck with his classics, which the crowd had no complaints about. He performed his fan favorites “Go DJ”, “Lollipop”, “Mrs. Officer”, “A Milli” and a few other classic throwbacks.

Lil Wayne was supported by one of his daughters and Shannon Sharpe, the former football player, who he gave shout outs to. Wayne also surprised fans by bringing the rapper 2 Chainz out to perform with him. They performed “Uproar” which is one of the most popular songs on Wayne’s album Tha Carter V. Lil Wayne proved his devotion to his die-hard fans and put on a great show. Hopefully next time the weather will cooperate.
