From sun-drenched reveries to moonlit glamour, a season of escape took shape

For two days, the Mondrian South Beach became a passport to far-flung destinations, cultural traditions, and imagined escapes as Miami Swim Week® The Shows unveiled Resort 2027 on May 29 and 30. The collections revealed a season less concerned with trends than with identity. Designers looked inward—to heritage, craftsmanship, sport, fantasy, and personal expression—transforming the runway into a mosaic of stories stitched together through fabric, texture, and silhouette.

There was no singular mood. Instead, the weekend unfolded as a series of distinct chapters. Some designers embraced athletic influences, while others turned to artisanal techniques rooted in generations of craftsmanship. Feathers drifted across shoulders like exotic plumage, metallic finishes caught the light with every step, and intricate crochet and knitwork celebrated the enduring beauty of the handmade. Color moved effortlessly between electric brights and sun-faded pastels, from tropical exuberance to understated neutrality.

Together, the presentations demonstrated how resortwear continues to evolve beyond its traditional boundaries. No longer confined to beach clubs and poolside afternoons, it has become a canvas for storytelling, culture, and self-expression, where craftsmanship and individuality carry as much weight as the destination itself.

Sabana Swim

Sabana Swim opened a window onto Colombia’s coastal soul. Warm sunset shades washed across textured knits and softly ruched silhouettes, while shells, beadwork, and organic adornments echoed treasures gathered from the shoreline. Flowing coverups moved with an ease that felt shaped by sea breezes rather than design sketches. The collection culminated in a proud nod to the brand’s homeland, weaving national identity into the narrative without sacrificing elegance.

Ci Swim x Mariella Swim

At Ci Swim x Mariella Swim, the beach met the stadium. Athletic references were reimagined through a resortwear lens, with jersey-inspired layers, lace-up details, and knee-high socks lending the collection a playful irreverence. Football and soccer motifs appeared not as costume but as cultural shorthand, celebrating the growing intersection between sport and fashion. The result felt youthful, spirited, and unabashedly confident.

Michell Llouvent

Michell Llouvent approached resortwear as a form of performance. Models moved through a dreamscape of metallic surfaces, powdery pastels, and painterly paisley prints. Structured dresses traced the body with precision, while fitted shrug-like layers added an unexpected modernity. The presence of ballerinas transformed the presentation into something closer to a living tableau, emphasizing grace, discipline, and artistic expression.

Normal Culture

Normal Culture brought a welcome sense of exuberance to the runway. Saturated color, daring cutouts, and lively prints created a collection that seemed designed for those who prefer to be seen rather than blend in. Ruffles danced along asymmetrical hems, while sculptural swimwear embraced bold proportions. The energy extended beyond the clothing itself, amplified by a cast of familiar personalities and a runway moment that celebrated motherhood alongside glamour.

Autty Simone

Autty Simone embraced after-dark allure. Sequins caught the light with every movement, while precisely placed cutouts revealed flashes of skin beneath sleek, feminine silhouettes. The collection balanced softness and structure, offering pieces that felt equally suited to a rooftop gathering or a moonlit resort terrace. A dramatic slit gown punctuated the presentation, embodying the confident sensuality that defined the brand’s vision.

Lila Nikole

No designer embraced spectacle quite like Lila Nikole. The collection unfolded as a vibrant collage of influences, drawing from carnival traditions, island culture, and the joyful exuberance of tropical life. Checkerboard motifs collided with bold color blocking, while prints inspired by fruit, flora, and wildlife created a visual feast. Loose trousers and mesh tops softened the impact of the swimwear, introducing an ease that grounded the collection’s maximalist spirit.

Smart Swimsuits

Smart Swimsuits turned its gaze toward the sea. Marine references surfaced throughout the collection, from aquatic motifs and shell embellishments to a palette dominated by ocean blues. Lifeguard-red swimsuits injected moments of contrast, while layered jewelry and draped coverups added depth and movement. The collection captured the enduring romance between swimwear and the water itself, without feeling overly literal.

Liliana Montoya

Liliana Montoya offered one of the weekend’s most restrained and refined presentations. Natural tones and woven textures spoke quietly rather than loudly, allowing craftsmanship to take center stage. Fringe swayed gently with each step, while delicate coverups layered effortlessly over swimwear. The collection felt rooted in the notion that luxury is often found in simplicity—the confidence to let impeccable construction speak for itself.

Luxe Living Fashion

Luxe Living Fashion closed with unapologetic drama. Metallic surfaces gleamed beneath the lights, lace and leather created unexpected contrasts, and feathered shoulder details evoked the silhouette of wings poised for flight. Deep purples, vivid reds, crisp whites, and jet black delivered a sense of theatrical glamour, transforming the runway into a celebration of bold femininity and fearless self-expression.
