Institution backs city readiness and long-term community investment through ONE GAME ONE FUTURE legacy program
With the countdown to FIFA World Cup 2026™ accelerating across South Florida, the University of Miami is moving into the frame not as a spectator institution, but as part of the city’s working architecture.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee has named the University an Official Host City Supporter, aligning one of the region’s most established academic institutions with the planning and community infrastructure behind Miami’s seven-match hosting role. The tournament is expected to draw close to one million visitors and generate up to $1.3 billion in regional economic activity, placing Miami firmly under an international lens.
But beyond the scale and projections, the partnership is being positioned around what remains after the final match is played.
At the center of the collaboration is the ONE GAME ONE FUTURE legacy initiative, through which the University will support the creation of a new community soccer field in an underserved neighborhood. The project is intended to extend access to the sport at a grassroots level, offering a permanent space for youth engagement long after the global spotlight has shifted elsewhere.
“The FIFA World Cup 2026 will bring an unprecedented number of visitors to Miami in a short period of time,” said Tanya Andreadis, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing, Communications, and Digital Officer at the University of Miami. “We are thrilled to collaborate with the Miami Host Committee to support the city as it prepares for that special moment. We also share their commitment to ensure something real is left behind, which is why we are excited to be a part of a new soccer field for Miami youth that the community can use long after the events.”
For the Host Committee, the partnership reflects a broader civic alignment as Miami prepares to operate on a global stage.
“The University of Miami is deeply woven into the fabric of this community,” said Alina T. Hudak, President & CEO of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee. “As we prepare to welcome the world, we are proud to stand alongside an institution whose roots are here at home, yet whose impact reaches across the globe.”
As Miami readies itself for one of the largest sporting events in its history, partnerships like this are shaping not only how the city performs in 2026 but what it leaves behind when the crowds move on.
