After two decades of eligibility, the iconic rock band Foreigner is finally set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, part of the Hall’s 39th annual celebration, will take place on October 19, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. This long-awaited recognition is supported by influential figures in the music industry, including Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Slash, Jack Black, and Mark Ronson, whose advocacy has played a pivotal role in this achievement.

Mick Jones, a founding member of Foreigner, expressed his elation and gratitude upon receiving the news of the band’s forthcoming induction. “I was thrilled to learn of FOREIGNER’s nomination, and this confirmation of our coming membership in the home of my peers is a priceless highlight of my career. October 19th will be an emotional day for me, Lou, Al, Dennis, and Rick, and a very special moment for the families of Ian and Ed,” Jones remarked. He also lauded the efforts of John Sykes and Rick Krim, the leaders of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, for their work in modernizing the institution and fostering an inclusive environment.

Phil Carson, manager of Foreigner and former Executive Vice President at Atlantic Records, commented on the band’s enduring legacy and popular appeal. “Few bands are more deserving of this honor than FOREIGNER. With more Top Ten hits than Journey and as many as Fleetwood Mac, this accolade is more than timely,” said Carson. He also highlighted the band’s global influence, noting their ongoing success in selling out venues worldwide and connecting with generations of fans. In appreciation of the fan support, Carson announced that Foreigner would briefly pause their Farewell Tour to perform additional shows as a special thank you to their supporters.

The 2024 induction ceremony promises to be a memorable event and will be streamed live on Disney+, with subsequent broadcasts scheduled on ABC and available on Hulu the following day. This strategy follows last year’s successful airing, where the ceremony attracted over 13 million viewers on ABC across both linear and digital platforms and achieved the top spot in New Year’s Day viewership among adults aged 18-49.

Foreigner’s upcoming induction not only commemorates their musical achievements but also acts as a bridge connecting the band’s storied past with a vibrant present and an evolving future in rock music.
