An evening of conversation and collecting explored why history remains one of fashion’s greatest luxuries.
Some garments are designed for a season. Others continue their journey long after the collections that introduced them have faded from memory. It was this lasting quality that inspired The Power of Vintage, held on Wednesday, June 17, at the A–Z Club within Andaz Miami Beach Resort & Spa, where collectors, designers and fashion enthusiasts gathered to explore vintage through the lenses of craftsmanship, sustainability and cultural heritage.
Curated by Allison Freidin, the event opened with an exclusive pop-up featuring carefully selected collections from LNF Vintage, The Fashionista and Ron Jeweler. Vintage couture, collectible accessories, fine jewelry and one-of-a-kind treasures offered a glimpse into fashion’s rich legacy, where every selection reflected exceptional artistry, provenance and a story shaped across generations.

The discussion that followed featured Valerie Schwank of The Fashionista, Alan Yermakov of LNF Vintage and jewelry specialist Mollie Francine Jonas. Together, the speakers explored why vintage continues to command admiration in an industry shaped by constant reinvention, examining the value of exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful collecting and the growing appreciation for fashion with provenance.
Throughout the conversation, one idea remained clear: true luxury is defined by longevity rather than novelty. Long before accelerated production became the norm, clothing and jewelry were created with extraordinary attention to construction, materials and finish. Choosing vintage not only preserves those traditions, but also offers a more considered approach to fashion—one that values authenticity, quality and responsible consumption over fleeting trends.

The restored surroundings of Andaz Miami Beach provided a fitting backdrop for the occasion. Much like the carefully preserved garments and jewels on display, the historic property reflected the beauty of thoughtful restoration, reinforcing the event’s central message that objects created with intention continue to acquire meaning over time.
In a culture captivated by what is new, The Power of Vintage offered a quieter perspective. The finest style is rarely defined by novelty. It is found in craftsmanship that withstands changing tastes, in objects that gather meaning with age and in an enduring appreciation for design that continues to inspire one generation after another.
