This season at New York Fashion Week, Baruch College made its mark as students from the Black & Latino Studies Department, SEEK, WBMB, and UMLA came together in an innovative collaboration with Art Hearts Fashion. Guided by the creative mentorship of Professor Shirley Reynozo—otherwise known as DJ Møya Rey @moyamusic_—an Adjunct Faculty member in Black & Latino Studies, the students bridged the worlds of academia and high fashion. Their presence signaled a powerful fusion of culture, scholarship, and style, showcasing the next generation of visionaries ready to disrupt the industry.

- “My experience in the NYFW was absolutely the best thing ever, and I would really like to thank Prof. Reynozo for the opportunity and for inviting us out to the event. I was able to meet and interact with so many people and build my connections. In addition, I was also able to build my photography brand and bring my camera to freely capture the show. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience.” – Jemil Lawal

Being at that event also emphasized how important connections and networking are. With opportunities and chances like this, you never know who you’re going to meet or run into, whether you’re trying to get into designing or you want to handle the finances of events.” -Karise Buckley
