The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (FLBHOF) will be holding their 15th annual Hall of Fame Weekend event June 30th – July 2nd, 2023 at the Hilton Carillon in St Petersburg, FL. Each year Saturday’s Expo is a crowd pleaser with the Inductee autograph signing, fist casting, seminar, Round table Discussion, and later that evening it’s a sophisticated night with the Inductees at the Dinner Gala.

This year Florida Boxing Commission will have their seminar focus more on the details of the roles they play in fights. How it’s important and why specific rules are in place. Referee and Judge Brian Garry, Referee and Judge Christopher Young, and Time Keeper Phyllis Garry will be the Presenters. Learning more about the regulations and rules that sometimes frustrate fans is a great opportunity. You can take this time to learn more about the technical aspects of being a judge or ref, as well as the difficulties with the positions.

Following the seminar there will be an opportunity to ask questions and comments centered around fighter safety. Keeping the boxer/fighter safe is of utmost importance. There are things that are done to protect boxers during the fight. But what are some of the aspects and new information available to trainers, corners, fans, and commissions that possibly can improve the care of the boxers prior to a fight, during a fight, and directly after a fight? You can also participate by offering suggestions.

Some of the topics points include amateur regulations versus professional regulations. For example-

Required Medical CPR Certified

And “Safe Sport” Courses that include head injury information. Come out for the seminar. Your participation as a boxing fan can make a difference in this informative conversation.

Also at the EXPO we will have a Film documentary viewing of the Ft Myers’ Film Festival First Place Award-winning film, “Worth the Fight” produced by John Biffer. Out of 79 films, this documentary won Audience Favorite and Best Film in the documentary category. The storyline is based on the life of several young students that benefited from boxing at the SJC Gym. The youth saw improvements in their lives by conquering issues like substance abuse, PTSD, anxiety, and alcoholism.
There will be a Round Table Discussion directly after the documentary viewing. Discussing the various ways boxing improves life and helps change lives.

You can go to the Expo for $5 and attend the seminar, the film, the expo, etc. Purchase these tickets and the Dinner Gala at www.FloridaBoxingHallofFame.com and you can also find the link there to purchase your tickets to the HOF Friday Night Fights promoted by T&K Boxing Promotions.
