Cameron Young picked up his second win on the PGA Tour this season and his third career PGA Tour win in impressive and dominating fashion with his wire to wire win at Doral. It was the first time the PGA Tour returned to the Miami venue since 2016. A final round 68 (-4) fired by Young sealed the historic victory to finish at -19 to successfully conclude the fifth signature event this season. The win earned Young his second-largest winner’s check at $3.6 million. Earlier this season in March, Cameron Young won THE PLAYERS Championship and earned $4.5 million.

Words can’t describe how great Cameron Young is playing this season, but one of the most impressive key points to his pair of victories is that he has fended off Matt Fitzpatrick, who is a three-time winner on the PGA Tour this season and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who is also a winner this year. As an emerging new threat on Tour, Young’s first victory was only last year when he won the 2025 Wyndham Championship. Notably, he was also the 2022 Rookie of the Year so the success we are beginning to see consistently from Young has been in the making for years to come.

“I think when the golf course is difficult, when the conditions are difficult, that tends to make it easier for me mentally.” Young said to the media after winning.

One of many interesting things about Cameron Young is how through his recent success he has managed to be a humble, emerging star on the PGA Tour. Always an easy person to spot on the course, he wears a very recognizable MLB patch on the collar of his shirt to represent a unique sponsorship he has with professional baseball. The sponsorship dates back to when he had limited opportunities to play on Tour before he had any status. His father’s friendship developed with the MLB commissioner Rob Manfred as he was the head pro at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in New York where Manfred is a member. That blessed opportunity is something Young cherishes today despite the fact he is showing no signs of having to worry about keeping his PGA tour status in the near future.

Welcome to Miami, The PGA Tour

It was a big week in Miami for sporting events with the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix taking place as well. The weather did factor into both events, but that didn’t stop Miamians and visitors from enjoying the events. Crowd size was a topic of discussion, as overlapping regional events meant those who did choose to attend the Cadillac Championship experienced a lower turnout than the usual crowds that would normally follow the leader groups during a PGA Tour signature event. Viewers tuning in to watch the broadcasts over the weekend could noticeably see at times grandstands with small numbers of people. A number of factors could have been the reason behind this including scheduling conflicts, key player absences, weather, and political sensitvity as the event was held at the president’s owned property hosted at the iconic Blue Monster course.

Regardless of a more intimate experience for spectators at this year’s Cadillac Championship, Young moved up to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings with his win. With three more majors still to play this season including the PGA Championship next weekend, he will certainly be a favorite as he chases his first career major title.
